About Thal University Bhakkar
The first public sector university in the Thal region — established in 2022 by the Government of Punjab to bring world-class education to one of Pakistan's most historically underserved areas.
Our Story
Established in 2022 by the Government of Punjab under the Thal University Act, Thal University Bhakkar is the first public sector university in the Thal region. Serving 11 districts of Punjab — including Bhakkar, Layyah, Mianwali, and Khushab — TUB brings world-class education to one of the historically underserved areas of Pakistan.
Located on a sprawling 200-acre campus on the outskirts of Bhakkar city, the university currently enrols over 3,600 students across five faculties and twenty-plus programs. With a team of more than 80 qualified faculty members — many holding PhDs from national and international institutions — TUB is rapidly building its reputation as a centre of academic excellence and community-centred research.
TUB is formally recognised by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan and operates under the Thal University Act 2022. The university is committed to merit-based admission, affordable fee structures, and robust scholarship programs that together ensure no deserving student from the Thal region is left behind due to financial constraints.
